Travel & Geography Archive is an independent catalogue of public-domain literature devoted to travel, exploration, and the human experience of place. Our aim is to make historically significant works accessible to readers, students, and researchers who wish to explore the world through the eyes of those who travelled, mapped, and described it before the age of mass tourism and satellite imagery.
The Catalogue maintenance uses source records and bibliographic context. Ebooks are offered in standard formats such as EPUB, PDF, and plain text. Where possible, we include a cover image and a table of contents. Formatting reflects the original print edition; we do not modernise spelling or punctuation except to fix clear typographical errors. Illustrations and maps are included when they are part of the original work and are available in good quality.
Contextual Reading Notes
Many entries are accompanied by reading notes that highlight themes, historical background, or connections to other works. For example, Brackenridge's Journal of a voyage up the river Missouri is paired with Franchère's Voyage to Northwest Coast to invite comparison of early American exploration narratives.
